The presenting talk with "Advancing Human-Relevant Research: The Potential of Microphysiological Systems" is part of the fifth Postdoc Days at the University of Tübingen 

At the post doc days event, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the various support structures available at the University of Tübingen, receive focused information on key aspects of the postdoctoral phase, and network with fellow postdoctoral researchers.

"In this presentation, Dr. Fulya Ersoy will introduce the 3R-Center Tübingen. The 3R Center is an interdisciplinary research center of the University of Tübingen and the NMI Reutlingen, which is dedicated to the development and application of human-relevant in-vitro models like Microphysiological systems (MPS). MPS are innovative, miniaturized in vitro models that replicate key structural and functional aspects of human organs. By recreating organ-specific microenvironments, these systems enable more realistic investigations of complex biological processes and human physiology. MPS allow researchers to study physiological and pathophysiological conditions and to assess the effects of stimuli such as pathogens, therapeutics, chemicals, and environmental toxins in human-relevant models. They serve as valuable alternatives and complements to conventional animal models, offering new opportunities for biomedical research. This lecture will introduce organ-on-chip systems, and highlight their applications and potential for advancing more human-relevant research."
