Modality: Online

Back in 2015, some students, researchers and animal caretakers set up a German non-profit organisation by the name of Pro-Test (https://www.pro-test-deutschland.de) to facilitate a more open debate of our work with lab animals, and to advocate for practical improvements to animal welfare wherever possible. Having grown to about 90 volunteer members, we now organise regular online training courses for others - like you!

And on Wednesday, 24 April 2024, from 1 to 4 pm German time, stay tuned for the next edition of our series of free, English-language online symposia, "Unsuck Your Science". Once again, our line-up of speakers will include prominent scientists from the UK and Germany, as well as leading officials of the German Society for Lab Animal Science (GV-SOLAS).

Participation via Zoom is free of charge and open to all, as long as you register ahead of time at https://unsuck.science. Participants may request a PDF certificate of attendance - and in the past, many institutions have agreed to count these towards mandatory "training hours" or other forms of course credit. (Please get in touch with your own institution to learn more, as it is their call to make.)

"Unsuck Your Science 2024: mistakes were made..." will focus on a core principle of Good Scientific Practice - namely, how to deal with our own mistakes, and those of others. Our speakers will share practical samples and their hands-on experience, as well as software tools and communication strategies, and debate them with the audience. Immediately after the event, from 4 to 5 pm German time, you'll have the opportunity to interact more informally with our speakers in dedicated break-out rooms.

Register now - and feel free to share this invite with anyone who might be interested. For questions, please contact your host institution, and/or send a message to info@pro-test-deutschland.de (Please keep in mind that our volunteers might take some time to reply to the large number of messages we receive this time of year. Thank you!)

Best regards,

Your fellow students, researchers, caretakers and veterinarians at Pro-Test Deutschland e.V.
