We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 3rd Annual Meeting of the 3R Competence Network NRW, which will take place on 27–28 November 2025 at Kasteel Bloemendal in Vaals, the Netherlands, just a few minutes from Aachen.
This year’s meeting is held under the theme “Advancing the 3Rs: From Innovation to Implementation,” highlighting our shared goal of turning cutting-edge research into practical improvements in animal welfare, scientific quality, and research culture.
The conference program will feature a keynote lecture by Katie Bates (NC3Rs), thematic sessions on organoids in disease modeling, novel approaches to reduction, welfare of laboratory animals (including aquatic species), and preregistration of animal studies. Selected short talks and interactive poster presentations will further showcase current research from across the 3Rs community. A networking evening on the first day will offer participants additional opportunities for exchange and collaboration.
On 26 November 2025, the day before the main conference, a dedicated pre-conference workshop for early career researchers will take place at the University Hospital Aachen. Under the title “Beyond Compliance: Integrating the 3Rs into Your Research Career,” this interactive session will offer practical guidance on applying the 3Rs in research planning, addressing ethical challenges, and building a responsible and fulfilling scientific career.
Following the positive response to our first and second annual meetings in 2023 and 2024, this year’s event continues to provide a platform for dialogue, learning, and innovation across the 3Rs landscape.
We warmly invite researchers, practitioners, and students to join us in Vaals and contribute to the advancement of responsible research.
