Connect. Communicate. Collaborate.

We are pleased to announce that registration for the 4th Annual Meeting of the 3R Competence Network NRW is now open. The event will take place on November 26 and 27, 2026, at Kasteel Bloemendal in Vaals (Netherlands), just a few minutes from Aachen.

This year, our motto “Connect. Communicate. Collaborate. — Creating Future 3R Science” captures how to advance the 3Rs: Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement by bringing together the people and ideas that shape responsible research. By connecting researchers, method developers, and stakeholders from academia, industry, animal welfare or authorities, we create the networks and communities needed for real progress. With communicate, we share evidence, best practices, and emerging tools that support the practical implementation of the 3Rs in daily research. And through collaborate, we jointly develop and translate strategies that strengthen replacement alternatives, reduce the number of animals used, and refine procedures to improve animal welfare.

The program features a keynote presentation by Dr. Petra Seebeck and Dr. Stephan Zeiter. In addition, the program includes selected short presentations and interactive poster sessions. A networking event on the first day of the conference offers an opportunity to exchange ideas and make new contacts.

Satellite Workshop

Do you work with laboratory animals and/or conduct research in the field of the 3Rs to develop alternatives to animal testing, and would you like to acquire or improve your communication skills on this topic?

An interactive satellite workshop for anyone interested will take place on November 25, 2026, at Aachen University Hospital. Together, we will explore how to explain these topics both in private conversations and in public, and how to communicate complex, ethically sensitive research in a clear and understandable way.

Registration is now open

Following the positive response over the last three years, we are continuing our successful series of events with this year’s conference and once again offering a platform for exchange, knowledge transfer, and innovation in the field of the 3R principles.

We cordially invite all interested parties to participate in the event in Vaals and to help shape a future-oriented, responsible approach to research.
