Discover the diversity of educational sessions and meetings to bolster your professional development, network with colleagues, and participate in stimulating events.
Education Sessions
The National Meeting educational program includes several distinct presentation types:
Platform Sessions
Platform Session speakers are selected from traditional abstract submissions in one of four distinct categories. Each presentation is 10-12 minutes, with the remaining time devoted to questions. Groups of platform presentations are compiled by category into Platform Sessions, which typically run for two hours.
Poster Sessions
Poster Sessions are selected from traditional abstract submissions and provide an alternative way to present scientific or technical information at the National Meeting. Authors are expected to be present during the Poster Session Reception to discuss their posters.
Seminars
Seminars are lecture-style educational sessions lasting 1.5 hours that address a single subject. This format features a leader and several speakers and allows discussion among the speakers and the audience.
Special Topic Lectures
Special Topic Lectures are formal, 30-minute presentations given by one or two speakers on a specific topic. Named Lectures (listed in the section below) will run for 60 minutes.
Technical Trade Presentations
Technical Trade Presentations are 20-minute, informal talks given by representatives of exhibiting companies. These are not sales pitches; the goal is to share tips and information about new technology and products in the industry. Only one presentation per company will be accepted. All topics are reviewed and approved by the Exhibitor Advisory Council.
Workshops
Workshops are "hands-on" sessions, usually running for a half-day. Enrollment for workshops is limited by the size of the facility. There is an extra charge for each workshop, and separate registration is required.
