It is a true honor and pleasure to extend a warm welcome to the 18th Congress of the Spanish Society for Laboratory Animal Sciences (SECAL), which will be held in Bilbao from November 18 to 21, 2025. This event represents an unparalleled opportunity to bring together professionals, researchers, and experts in our discipline and foster the exchange of knowledge.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Scientific and Organizing Committee of this congress for the tremendous effort they have made in recent months to prepare a useful and engaging scientific program for everyone. This program integrates current topics that reflect the most recent challenges and advances in laboratory animal science, while also highlighting aspects that, despite the passage of time, remain of great interest to all of us working in this field.
Furthermore, thanks to the close collaboration that SECAL maintains with the Spanish Biosecurity Association (AEBioS), we will offer specific sessions addressing current aspects of biosecurity in animal facilities, highlighting our shared commitment to ensuring the best practices and working conditions in our professional environment.
I would also like to highlight that this edition of the congress is inspired by the "One Health" concept, reflected in this year's logo. This approach seeks to bring animal research closer to the patient, promoting a comprehensive vision that connects human, animal, and environmental health. With this, we aim to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue that boosts the positive impact of our research on society.
